Milk Bath Series

Columbia, SC, USA

My first post about a styled shoot! Let me first say that pregnant women are stunning. I'm not around a lot of pregnant women, probably two my entire life and that's just because I did their maternity shoot, but I often forget how they're able to carry an entire human being in their stomach and still be bad-ass women working and living their lives. Bianca reached out to me with this idea of a maternity milk bath shoot and, honestly, at first I was nervous. I haven't done a milk bath shoot yet, but I was excited so I agreed.

Her dad's friend allowed us to use her bathtub and one of the most nerve-wracking things for me was...what if the bathroom was ugly?? What if there is no natural lighting? What if there were NO lighting? However, all that faded when Bianca sent me a photo of the bathroom and it was absolutely perfect. It was a pristine tub with a big open window that allowed so much natural lighting to flood in. A photographer's dream.

Bianca was an absolute gem to work with; she had the cutest pregnant belly, and she was all smiles and peaceful throughout the shoot. The overall look of the pictures turned out so perfect. I enjoyed creating this concept with her. It's so soft, creamy, airy, and women-empowering.

This is the most exciting shoot I've done! So, I'm going to stop blabbering and show you the pictures.

Interested in doing a milk bath shoot? Here are my tips:

  1. Use real flowers. They look way better, and they float easier than synthetic.
  2. LACE clothing! We originally were going to use tulle but we ran out of time but this lace + the color of it against her skin tone worked out perfectly.
  3. We used three gallons of whole milk + half lukewarm water. We made sure it was not too hot so the milk wouldn't curdle.
  4. Have an assistant. I normally don't but luckily, her sister and the owner of the house was there to assist me in moving flowers around.
That's it! I hope you guys liked this post! Once I get more styled shoots going, I'll be blogging more about them as well! Let me know what you guys think of these photos :)

  4. The Milk Bath Series beautifully captures the essence of tranquility and self-care, similar to how the red one clothing embodies boldness and confidence. Just as a milk bath soothes the skin, the striking designs of the red one clothing empower individuals to embrace their unique style and express their true selves.
